And I feel fine.

It’s the end of the world as we know it (according to Senator Virgil H. Goode Jr., R-VA): A Muslim has been elected to Congress.

The assiduous, diligent, studious, and erudite Mr. Goode called said Muslim, Senator Keith Ellison, D-MN, “a serious threat to the nation’s traditional values.”

Uh…wasn’t religious tolerance one of the key traditional values?
And the founding fathers weren’t Christian.
Just an FYI.
(And I’m not even erudite.)

The well-read, well-informed, investigative, and attentive Mr. Goode wrote a letter to his constituents calling for stricter immigration laws to keep the non-Christians out.
Senator Ellison replied, “[Uh…] I’m not an immigrant; I’m an African-American.”
According to the New York Times article, Senator Ellison can trace his American ancestors back to 1742. Duh.

Way to go America.
